Where I Stay in Chicago: Pendry Chicago
Chicago is a city that effortlessly blends timeless architecture with modern energy, and that’s exactly what I look for when choosing where to stay. Every visit feels like an opportunity to experience something new, whether I’m exploring the Riverwalk, strolling through Millennium Park, or simply admiring the city’s incredible skyline. That’s why I love staying at Pendry Chicago.
Housed inside the iconic 1929 Carbide & Carbon Building on Michigan Avenue, Pendry Chicago is one of the city’s most distinctive boutique hotels. The beautifully restored Art Deco landmark has long been part of Chicago’s skyline, and today it combines historic elegance with contemporary luxury in a way that feels both sophisticated and welcoming. Every detail, from the grand lobby to the thoughtfully designed guest rooms, celebrates the building’s remarkable history while offering all the comforts of a modern luxury hotel.
The guest rooms are warm, refined, and beautifully appointed with plush bedding, marble bathrooms, oversized windows, and many offer spectacular views of the city skyline. After spending the day exploring Chicago, there’s nothing better than returning to a room that feels peaceful, comfortable, and effortlessly stylish.
One of my favorite things about staying here is the location. Situated in the heart of the Loop, Pendry places you within walking distance of many of Chicago’s most celebrated attractions. Millennium Park, the Chicago Riverwalk, theaters, museums, and some of the city’s most recognizable architecture are all just minutes away, making it easy to experience the very best of downtown on foot.
If you enjoy shopping as much as I do, you’ll love being here. Michigan Avenue offers some of Chicago’s finest shopping, from luxury retailers and designer boutiques to unique specialty stores and local favorites. Whether you’re searching for something special or simply enjoying an afternoon of window shopping, it’s one of my favorite parts of staying downtown.
Dining is another reason I continue to recommend Pendry Chicago. The hotel is home to Venteux, a beautiful French inspired brasserie and café, along with the elegant Bar Pendry for handcrafted cocktails. When the weather is right, Château Carbide offers one of the city’s most memorable rooftop experiences, where you can enjoy a drink while taking in sweeping views of the Chicago skyline. Even if you decide to venture beyond the hotel, you’ll find outstanding restaurants in every direction.
Pendry also makes the perfect home base for exploring the rest of Chicago. Whether you’re visiting the Art Institute, taking an architectural river cruise, enjoying an evening at the theater, or discovering one of the city’s vibrant neighborhoods, everything is easily accessible. It allows you to experience Chicago without spending your trip constantly traveling from one destination to another.
What I appreciate most about Pendry Chicago is that it truly reflects the city itself. It honors Chicago’s rich architectural heritage while embracing modern luxury, exceptional hospitality, and timeless style. It’s elegant without feeling formal and luxurious without feeling overdone.
If you’re planning a visit to Chicago and want a boutique hotel that offers history, outstanding service, exceptional dining, and one of the city’s best locations, Pendry Chicago is one I would happily recommend. For me, it’s much more than a beautiful place to stay. It’s become part of what I love most about visiting Chicago.
